UMinho concluded a contract with a contractor that provides occupational medical services. These services are provided at the contractor’s facilities in Braga and Guimarães. This option was chosen given the need to conduct a more complete and complex set of examinations, which requires the use of specific medical facilities.
The workers are summoned to attend the medical appointment through e-mail. Their attendance is mandatory under national law.
On the one hand, UMinho considers the evaluation of the general conditions of work, hygiene and tasks performed to be extremely relevant and, on the other hand, evaluating the associated risks. The medical examinations can also be seen as an opportunity to clarify doubts and receive information about good health practices, namely risks of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking, alcoholism and the importance of a good sleep hygiene, among other subjects.
