Within the scope of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment University of Minho (UMinho) undertakes to: 

a) Promote and ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all the academic community;

b) Identify the hazards and evaluate the risks associated to the nature and size of UMinho, implementing actions with the objective of minimising them;​

c) Develop a proactive attitude of the academic community in the accountability for the prevention of accidents and for complying with the legal and other requirements that may apply to UMinho; 

d) Reinforce UMinho’s safety culture, promoting the training, information and participation of the academic community; 

e) Promote the continuous improvement of UMinho's safety, preparing the Institution and its Academic Community to respond to emergency situations and to prevent accidents at work.
